Timothy J Blied.
Tim Blied works in both the Santa Ana and Fullerton Offices and focuses on business law, estate planning, trusts, real estate, and adoption. Tim is a graduate of Biola University (B.A.) and Pepperdine University School of Law (J.D.). Admitted to the Bar in California in 1979, he associated with Jim Schmiesing in 1980 and they have practiced together ever since.
Tim is a member of the Business and Corporate, Real Estate, and Estate Planning sections of the State Bar, the Orange County Bar Association, and the Academy of California Adoption Attorneys. Tim and his wife Janel have been married for over 40 years, have four children and five grandchildren.
He has served on many non-profit and church boards. He is presently a member of the Board of Directors for the Sheepfold, as well as being on the board for OC United based in Fullerton, California.
Jeff Blied.
Jeffrey Blied practices law to preserve family legacies. His main focus is assisting families of all generations with estate plan, trusts and business transitions. He also practices in real estate and corporate law, working with many families in southern California who own investment properties or operate their own businesses.
Jeff also has expertise in the niche area of traditional domestic adoptions and the care of minors, including the establishment of guardianships and temporary care for minors. He has been with the firm Blied Dillon & Mackey for over eleven years where he has the continual privilege of working with his father and law partner, Timothy Blied.
During law school Jeff received the Witkin award in Business Associations and Evidence, was on the Dean’s List, a recipient of the Merit Scholarship, and graduated Cum Laude. He is a licensed California Real Estate Broker.
When not working at the firm, Jeff enjoys camping on the coast with his wife, Jessica, and their three children, running half marathons and helping with community projects in the Orange County area.
Austin Dillon.
Austin Dillon serves as of-counsel for the firm. He began practicing estate planning and trust administration with his father-in-law and beloved mentor, Jerry Mackey, in 2014 while in law school. During his time in law school, Austin also worked with the disability community, representing vulnerable clients who were at risk of losing their government benefits.
After graduating from Berkeley Law School in 2015, Austin came to work with Jerry full time, where he was privileged to gain invaluable experience and instruction under Jerry’s wing. Austin now manages Jerry’s practice since his unfortunate passing in April of 2018. Along with practicing Trust and Estates, Austin has experience in trust litigation, corporate law, and nonprofit law.
When Austin isn’t practicing law, he’s spending time with his wife, Emily, and their sons Otto and Rex. Along with hanging out with his family, Austin enjoys reading science-fiction, going to hot yoga, and playing music with his band.

Jerry Mackey
With deep sadness, we announce longtime partner and friend Jerry Mackey, passed away in 2018. He will be remembered for his contribution to our firm, his involvement with Biola University, and his Christ centered life.
Jerry Mackey was based in the Fullerton office and concentrated on estate planning, tax planning, charitable and deferred giving, and in working with non-profit organizations.
Jerry was a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara (B.A.) and Pepperdine University School of Law (J.D.). He was in private law practice since 1979 and served as legal counsel to Biola University since 1982. Jerry was a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA), the Christian Legal Society and the Estate Planning Section of the California State Bar. Jerry is survived by his wife Judy, they were married for over 35 years and have three daughters. He served on the board of numerous non-profit organizations and was a member of the planned giving committees of St. Jude Hospital Foundation and the University of California, Irvine.
Jim Shmiesing
A founding member of the firm and practitioner of several decades, Jim Schmiesing is now retired and enjoying a life of retirement. His clients continue to be well served by the partners of Blied Dillon & Mackey.
Jim graduated from Loyola University School of Law in Los Angeles (J.D.) and obtained a certificate in tax from the University of Southern California. A member of the California Bar since 1963, he was also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and United States Tax Court. In 1969, Jim relocated to Orange County where he began his focus on trust and estates. He and Tim Blied worked together for over 30 years and with Jerry Mackey for 16 years. Jim and his wife Julie have been married for over 50 years and have four adult children. In retirement, Jim is active in a teaching ministry for his church and has obtained his master’s and doctoral degree’s in theology.
Ron Stoddart
Ron Stoddart is retired from the firm and his California practice of law. He is currently licensed to practice in Colorado and maintains a practice in the areas of adoption and estate planning. He is a graduate of California State Polytechnic University (B.S. in Business) and Southwestern University (J.D.). He was admitted to the California Bar in 1974 and the Colorado Bar in 2014. Prior to beginning his law practice, Ron worked as a management consultant for KPMG and then helped found and take public Omnimedical, a company in the medical services and equipment field. He opened an office for the practice of law in 1984 and later merged his practice with Schmiesing Blied & Mackey in 2000. He is a past President of the Academy of California Adoption Lawyers and a member of the Christian Legal Society.
Ron served as the President of Nightlight Christian Adoptions ( a Hague Accredited adoption agency) from 1995 through 2013, developing the first embryo adoption program and the first intercountry hosting program for orphans from Eastern Europe. Recently, he founded Save Adoptions, a non-profit corporation dedicated to reversing the decline in intercountry adoptions. He has appeared as a guest on Focus on the Family, the Glenn Beck Program and has authored numerous articles on adoption issues.
